Anna Novakov

Belgrade-born and Berkeley-raised creative Anna Novakov was a Professor of Art History, Theory and Criticism at the San Francisco Art Institute and Saint Mary’s College of California before leaving academia to work as a multi-genre artist and writer. Retaining studios in New York and Limoux, France, Serbian-American Novakov produces olfactory installations, wall works, screenplays and textiles that mine her memories of Yugoslavia – a country that no-longer exists. She is a founding member of Provisional Art Space (Collaborative).
