David Falsberg

David Falsberg was raised in Seattle, WA to quasi-hip parents drenched in folk music and social inclusiveness. He found his first artistic voice writing poetry and editing his high school newspaper.

He graduated from Yale University and became a fly-on-the- wall of downtown culture in NYC in the 80s. Professional night clubber and art scenester, co-founding editor of Paper Magazine, terminal wanderlust.

In 2007 David suffered a near lethal reaction to common FDA-enthralled medication. Crawled from the ashes of 4 month coma, hyper-slow reintegration. An initial year of blindness begat hyper-vigilant sense of smell and experimentation blending natural perfumes.

In 2013 launched House of Phoenicia to awards and acclaim. Horizontal attar-style perfumery with free pour of real oud + cult hit Skin Graft, a fragrance borne of coma memories.

Small batch brand has traipsed the decade, morphing into mixed-media perfumery. Wrote a series, "Perfumers Workshop", for Cafleurebon.

Instagram is now brand's main media outlet - @phoenicia22. Showed New York Scent Exchange at Olfactory Art Keller in 2021.

Collab with artist Mary Jones expands the expression of scent as an art form. Self-publishing of Coma Life So Beautiful in anticipation of "Bodies Odors Trauma Disease" show at Olfactory Art Keller. Chock full of amazing stories of astral travels while in hard-drug-induced hospital coma.
