Margaux Le Paih Guerin: Olfa Meta 3

$450.00

odorous molecules | 50mL | Edition of 1

turns the background into the figure, turning the traditional accord structure of perfumes upside-down

artist statement:

Through this creation, I wanted to put at the first place a raw material which is normally used as a hint, in the background.

As a sample black point on a white canvas - the minimalism claimed that this point is now a piece of art, full-fledged.

I chose a powerful, strong, synthetic material: Indol. When you smell the perfume, you have the feeling to smell only indol. Disturbing, dull, vapid. If you want to discover the real subject of the creation, you need to wait some seconds for your nose to get used to the Indol, so you could smell the other elements of the construction. I built, around the indol, different accords that normally needs Indol as a trace: a rose, a jasmine and a sweat/body accord. The immediacy of the captation of the perfume is broken. You have to take the proper time to smell it, to feel the facets and to understand that you're smelling these accords « upside-down » : the background is now on the stage. The simplicity you felt at first is a false one. The little detail became the main piece of the artwork.
